Ruby & Friends

GitLab is one of the largest Rails apps in the world, and most importantly it is Open Core, and "Anyone can contribute". It has many specific approaches to traditional Rails features that were needed because of the scale. - Why would you want to contribute to an app rather than a Gem? - How do I get started? - How can I find some introductory issues to work on?
